Q: Who can receive assistance from Hearts & Hammers?
A: Hearts & Hammers applicants must be senior citizens or physically challenged individuals who:
1) own and occupy their own single-family home, 2) meet income eligibility guidelines, and 3) do not intend to sell their home within the next two years.
To qualify, homes must have a wood or stucco exterior that requires significant painting. Homes with vinyl or aluminum siding do not qualify.
Q: What type of home improvements does Hearts & Hammers provide?
A: Home improvements are limited to exterior painting and repairs. They typically include painting, caulking, repair or replacement of windows and doors, ramp construction, repair or replacement of exterior light fixtures, landscaping, removal of debris and other services to restore the character of the home and to improve its weatherproofing and security. Hearts & Hammers does not provide any interior refurbishment, major electrical work or plumbing services.
Q: Is there any charge to the homeowner for the work performed by Hearts & Hammers?
A: No, there is no charge to the homeowner to participate in Hearts & Hammers. Hearts & Hammers relies on the time and skill of volunteers and on donated supplies to complete the home improvement projects.
Q: When will the work be performed?
A: Hearts & Hammers completes all home improvement projects during Program Day events in May and September.

Review the eligibility requirements and complete and sign the application. Please return your completed application to the following address no later than July 7, 2006:
